New Apple Mac Mini Reviews (3)

  1. September 3, 2010 by Sam

This latest Mac Mini model is slower than the previous models although it does not affect the performance much. The RAM that is already in it is not sufficient to run the programs, it would be better if you purchase additional RAM, 4 GB ought to be sufficient for any need, but it actually depends on what you do on your Mac Mini and how much memory can you afford to buy. If you are going to use it just to surf the net and watch the occasional movie, then 2 or 3 GB memory would be enough.

Pros: it is tiny, doesn’t take up much space, very powerful
Cons: requires additional ram, is slow, very low graphics

The New Mac Mini is not a powerful device. You can use it to surf the web, read books, write novels, view pictures, watch movies and create a music library and listen to music. But if you throw at it some heavy work like editing movies, sound editing, playing graphic games etc. it will slow down to a crawl. It comes with the iLife suit preinstalled which contains iMove, iPhoto, iDVD, Garageband etc. so that you can straight away start enjoying your Mac Mini without bothering to install all the programs and applications.

Pros: very small, iLife suit preinstalled, good for basic computer stuff
Cons: not enough RAM, poor gaming capabilities, visible lags at times.

The best thing I like about the Mac Mini is that I don’t have to worry about virus, worms or any kind of malicious software. It is small in size and does not take up much space; it is very silent so it is hard to know if it is on or off. The preloaded 512MB was surprisingly sufficient for me because I had spent most of the time surfing the web, and watching a movie. I checked out the iLife suit that was preinstalled in the Mac Mini and found it to be very good.

Pros: cheap, takes up less space, silent operation
Cons: poor graphics drive, very slow, RAM not sufficient for graphics intensive work.
