Kodak PlaySport HD Waterproof Video Camera

Our Price: $97

Do you love to shoot video? Ever worry about your video camera around rain and water? Now you don't have to with the Kodak PlaySport HD Waterproof Pocket Video Camera. The first thing you will notice about the Kodak Playsport HD camera is that it is very slim and looks just like a mobile phone. Well, actually it is a little bigger and heavier than a small smartphone. But don’t worry; you won’t have trouble in slipping it into pant's pocket or your purse. The body of this camera is mostly made of plastic, not the cheap one, tough and thick plastic which is slightly textured black which makes the camera look very sleek. It is made of high quality material, it is durable which is exactly what you need from a camera like this. Kodak Playsport HD has ribbed sides which help you keep a good grip on it even when the camera is wet. It has a rugged design and is completely waterproof. You can submerge the PlaySport in water up to 9.8 feet. The normal focus range of this camera starts from 3.3 feet and 4.4 feet when you are underwater. The microphone on this camera is located next to the lens, and works great for picking up audio in most situations. Controls are easy to use and the image quality is nice.

The Kodak PlaySport means that you can have lots of fun recording watersports or swimming pool antics but it is advised not to leave the camera submerged under water for over 30 minutes. The camera will also have problem functioning properly if it is exposed to temperatures lower than 32 degrees Fahrenheit for an extended period of time. Although this is not a problem if you're looking for an affordable video camera for vacation fun, if you're looking to record more adventurous activities like hours of surfing or even sky diving then check out the GoPro camera range instead. If you're looking for great quality video for your vacations by the pool or at theme parks, even if you want a video camera to film with in the rain without having to worry about your camera being damaged, then the Kodak Playsport HD is the perfect option. Get it at a great price here.

Kodak PlaySport HD Waterproof Video Camera Reviews (1)

I’ve been using this camera for about a year now, and I love it. The quality of the video is excellent (when in good light); for best results, use 720p @ 60 fps. I also like being able to snap 5mp pictures (quality is average – sometimes washed out when outdoors, and definitely too dark/grainy when indoors). This is a great camera to use in a pool, take to six flags, or just casual use around the house. It’s a very rugged camera, so I don’t have to worry about dropping it, sitting on it, or, obviously, getting wet. A standard SDHC card will work for storage – doesn’t require anything expensive or excessively fast.

Main con of this camera is the battery life. Mine drains even when the camera is off – “off” is really more like “standby.” Do yourself a favor and buy some extra ones to take with you (off-brand batteries are extremely inexpensive). I put my extra batteries in a little baggie and toss them in my pocket.

Overall, it’s worth having if you’re in/around water a lot and want to capture those moments, or if you have an active lifestyle and want a rugged camera that you can take with you w/o worrying about breaking it.

Pros: Waterproof, rugged, good quality video.
Cons: Battery life is AWFUL, still image quality is mediocre at best, switching from video to photo is awkward.
