If you're looking for a camcorder to capture all your memories in Full High Definition video, look no further than the Sony Handycam HDR-CX130 Camcorder. The CX130 captures 1920 x 1080 Full HD video that looks great played back even on large HD TVs. It features a wide angle G lens that lets you record sharp, detailed images at a 29.8mm focal length. If you're looking for a camcorder to take on vacation or record high quality family movies then this camera is definitely up to the challenge. It has a 30X optical zoom that can be extended to 42X while maintaining HD image quality, so even when you're far from the action physically, you can get right in there with your camera.

If you haven't got the steadiest of hands, then you don't have to worry because there is Optical Steady Shot image stabilization with the CX130 when you activate Active Mode so you can run along and it will compensate for the shake in the picture. You'll be viewing your videos through a 3-inch Clear Photo LCD Plus display with a whopping 230K pixels resolution. This will give you very crisp images to look at. You can rotate the screen up to 270 degrees for multiple viewing angles depending on what you are filming. The screen is also touch sensitive so it's very innovative to use.

If you want to track a certain person, simply touch their image on the screen and the camera will keep them in focus even if they leave and return to the frame. This is done by using face detection technology which Sony brought over to their video cameras after proving to be a very popular feature on stills cameras like the Sony Cyber Shot DSC-W350. The "Exmor R" CMOS sensor is another advanced feature that Sony have added to the CX130 and it ensures that even in low light, the performance of this camcorder remains good. If you want to shoot in total darkness, that is possible too because there is a built-in LED light which is a very feature to have on a camcorder. With lots of different shooting options including Landscape, Backlight, Twilight, Spotlight, Low light, Macro, Portait, Baby, Walk and Tripod, you're definitely going to capture some great memories with this camera. Pick up the Sony Handycam HDR-CX130 right here to start your adventure in filmmaking today.

Sony Handycam HDR-CX130 Reviews (1)

  1. February 15, 2012 by Jeff

Bought the Sony Handycam HDR-CX130 as an upgrade from my old tape-based handycam. It’s a dream not having to deal with tapes anymore as I can have a go editing my videos with Windows Movie Maker rather then just transferring them onto VHS like I used to. I haven’t quite got the hang of sharing videos on youtube yet but I’ll be emailing clips to my daughter’s in no time! The optical stabilization on this camera is great, even for my shaky hands but the manual controls are definitely not easy to get the hand of. My camera does not have a light either, as the product description and the manual both state it does so if that is a key factor for you, look somewhere else. I’m not too bothered though because I’m mostly taking videos during the day or in good light.

Pros: Great stabilization, nice quality, fantastic that it is not tape- based.
Cons: The LCD screen is hard to see when the sun is shining on it, no LED light, manual controls hard to get used to.
