Canon PowerShot S90

Our Price: $300

If you like all the aspects of a digital SLR camera except for the size, then the Canon Powershot S90 could be exactly what you’re looking for. This camera has a lot of amazing features. There are more than 25 shooting modes available on this camera. Seventeen of these shooting modes feature unique specialty scene modes. The Auto mode has the scene recognizing Smart Auto Feature which makes your work even easier.

The low light mode drops the resolution to 1824 x 1386 pixels which is around 2.5 megapixels but allows for sensitivity up to 12,800. There is a VGA resolution movie mode on the dial which is perfect for uploading your videos straight to YouTube. However, there is no HDMI output to watch what you have taken on your HD television, a feature offered by so many cameras these days including the Canon Powershot G12.

The control ring on the lens is a very nice addition that really sets the camera apart. It lets you manually control more of the settings of the camera like the Program AE, Shutter priority, Aperture priority and others. You also can register up to five commonly used menu items to a My Menu tab in the main-menu system. This camera also includes other advanced options like exposure bracketing and focus bracketing that will take one photo at a manual focus position and then one each at preset positions nearer and farther. This camera also offers manual white balance correction; and raw or raw plus JPEG capture. This S90 is pretty fast for a point and shoot using these settings. There is a delay of just 1.8 seconds when you are shooting images in high quality JPEG and that delay is extended to 3.4 seconds when you switch to RAW mode. Continuous shooting and saving in JPEG is about 1 frame per second. There are almost 45 different shutter speeds ranging from 15 seconds to 1/1,600 of a second and 14 aperture values: f2 through f8. You can also select the ISO range between ISO 80 to ISO 3,200. The photo quality of Canon PowerShot S90 is very impressive. If you want to experiment with manual photography without the bulk of an SLR, then buy the Canon PowerShot S90 today.
