Without a doubt the Fujifilm FinePix X100 was one of the most beautiful cameras Fuji has ever produced, however the large price tag of over $1000+ has left many consumers wondering why they shouldn't instead pick up a cheaper Sony Alpha NEX-5 or other micro-four-thirds camera. As if bending to consumer desires Fuji have released the pocket friendly (in more ways than one) Fujifilm X10. Though not a micro-four-thirds camera itself, this tiny compact camera has an exceptionally versatile high-definition Fujinon F2.0 wide-angle to F2.8 telephoto, 4x manual zoom lens (28-112mm) lens.
This isn't your typical compact camera as it has a diverse range of manual shooting modes that can be selected according to scene type, as well as tons of other cool features we are just blown away by. We're talking fun features, not boring statistics about focal lengths.
The X10 has these gorgeous Film Simulation Modes, that give your pictures a classic Fujifilm feel to them. It has a manual pop-up flash with a range of 23 feet, and we especially like the setting that lets you take two photos at once, one with flash and one without, a really handy feature for when time is of the essence. Then there is the electronic horizon leveling gauge to ensure that the camera is being held level, so no need for ugly accessories to make sure your'e getting it right. By far our favourite feature though is the ability to turn the camera on and off just by turning the lens ring, as the on/off power switch is actually built into the lens ring itself, this makes for an exceptionally fast start up time - less that 1 second!
So what about those boring statistics though? The X10 has a large 2/3-inch, 12-megapixel EXR-CMOS sensor and advanced EXR processor. It has raw shooting and in-camera raw processing. The fixed lens is f2.0 wide-angle and f2.8 telephoto, with 4x optical zoom. It has 1080p Full HD movie recording capabilities, as well as Motion Panorama 360 for seamless 360-degree panoramic shooting.
Everything under the hood is exceptional, but really the stand out thing about the X10 is just how beautiful it is to behold. Fuji have really nailed the vintage/retro style here. The X10's black body is accented with luxurious leather and has a square simple look to it. We like it even more than the X100! But we especially like it's much cheaper price tag, try to bag one at this low price today.
