Nikon D5100 with 18-55mm lens

Looking for the Nikon competitor to the Canon T3i/600d? Here you have it. The Nikon D5100 is a cool camera which has some amazing features. It has a vari-angle LCD monitor which swivels out and tilts making it extremely useful in taking pictures and recording movies from a unique viewpoint. This allows for shooting photos from almost any angle – overhead shots, self-portraits and others. It is especially useful in creating videos of yourself for YouTube. The monitor is a top quality 921000 LCD screen with high quality viewing and playback.

Nikon D5100 has an effects mode this is very funky- in this you can select a particular color and isolate it within the scene, you can use the night vision effect to capture details in places too dark for your own eyes, use high key effect to create bright, glowing images filled with atmosphere, you can emphasize the mood of a scene using Low Key the effect, but my favorite is the Miniature Effect which makes a scene look like a miniature scale model. Nikon D5100 has a full HD capability that lets you record movies in high quality. It also has full time autofocus, which makes the task of recording easier as it automatically tracks the motion of the person you are recording.

The Live View and the Movie start button are ergonomically placed which makes recording HD movies very accessible. The photography options on this SLR are superb also. You no longer have to worry about extreme contrasts like a bright sunny day or foreground deep in shadow because the Nikon D5100 takes two photos at once, and then combines the two exposures to create an image of wide dynamic range which has less noise and very rich color. The 16.2 Megapixel DX format CMOS sensor and EXPEED 2 image-processing engine ensures that your images are stunning. The CMOS sensor offers wide ISO range from ISO 100 to 6400 and has reduced noise that enables you to get faster shutter speed and less blur. The Nikon D5100 is a truly capable camera that will allow toy experiment with your creativity like never before. Get the D5100 with an 18-55mm lens for a great price here.

Nikon D5100 with 18-55mm lens Reviews (1)

  1. October 3, 2011 by Nancy

I’ve been thinking about getting a new SLR for ages, but wasn’t too bothered by all these new video features. Photography is what cameras like this should be used for and it pains me that companies are catering to video more than photo features these days. However, this camera, the Nikon D5100 is a breath of fresh air. The simple thing of adding a swivel LCD Monitor has made taking low level or above level photos a breeze, I can now take photos of objects close to the ground without getting down on my hands and knees, and I can take great photos at gigs, because I can see over everyones heads. It’s brilliant! Yes this camera has video, but I’m never going to find a use for it. It’s an amazing camera for photos. Why bother with video.

Pros: Moving LCD Monitor makes taking photos even easier.
Cons: Too much emphasis on video.
