Tired of lugging around heavy books and running out of book shelf space? That's where the Barnes & Noble e-book Reader can help. Rumored to be a Amazon Kindle killer, this e-book reader has a lot to offer. Known as the 'Nook', it sports a great design with a color multi-touch screen, far superior to the dull grays of the Sony PRS-505 ebook reader, with built-in Wi-Fi and 3G that runs Google's Android OS to allow you to download books. It also has an MP3 player with a built-in speaker and the capacity to hold up to 1,500 books. That's more books than anyone could dream of carrying around.

Would you miss swapping books with friends and family? Now you don't have to. The Nook has a fantastic 'lend' feature that allows you to send a book in your collection to a friend on their nook or their iPhone or Blackberry and they can have access to that book for fourteen days.

The battery life on the Nook last approximately ten days. That's plenty of time to read books, PDF files and listen to music and audiobooks. The 3.5-inch touchscreen is a pleasure to read and the device itself weighs just 11.2 ounces. It also allows you expand the memory. If the 2GB of internal memory aren't enough to satisfy your reading needs, you can add a micro SD card.

The Barns & Noble eReader software works on both Windows and Mac so take the weight off today and purchase a Barnes & Noble Nook here.

Barnes & Noble NOOK eBook Reader Reviews (1)

  1. October 3, 2011 by Mike

    Features
    Value
    Reliability

I gave this 7 out of 10 for features, but to be honest I don’t really need anymore features than the Nook has. It’s the perfect ebook reader for me. I managed to persuade a few friends to buy one too, so we can lend eachother ebooks, it’s great, like having your own little book club.

I love the addition of colour here, it really brightens things up and reminds you that this is a great piece of tech in your hands, unlike the kindle, which is pretty boring really.

The Mp3 is great because I love to listen to classical music as I read, it’s difficult to concentrate on reading when the whole world is making so much noise, so the mp3 player is so great. All ebook readers should have this, or maybe a white noise machine.

Pros: Mp3 player is brilliant, great addition to an ebook reader.
Cons: A little on the large size, would be nice if it was a bit smaller.
