Believe it or not the Sony PSP has sold over 50 million units since it was launched, it really did take the world by storm and is still an incredible gaming machine. The PSP was always touted as being capable of doing everything the PS3 can do, but just on a smaller screen, and all you need to do is look at the seriously impressive graphics to see that this is true. Unlike the Nintendo DS Lite, which has graphics more suitable to children than hardcore gamers.
Of course the PlayStation Portable isn't just a gaming device, it's also an incredible entertainment system with movie and mp3 capabilities. The PSP was the first handheld gaming device to use discs, called Universal Media Discs (UMD). These days you can pick up games, as well as movie titles on UMD format, for pretty cheap online. The PSP also takes Memory Stick PRO Duo, so if UMDs aren't your thing you can simple load up games, mp3s and movies on memory stick instead. The PSP was also the first handheld device to feature such a large screen, and has numerous other novel features you don't find on other handhelds, such as the ability to connect with the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, other PSPs, and the Internet.
The PSP is the original and best grown up handheld gaming device, and is a joy to play games such as Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon or Final Fantasy IV. You can even access your old Playstation favourites via emulation, as these games can now be downloaded via the Playstation Network.
There are two versions of the Sony PSP, the standard model and the slim model. If you're into your colours, check out the pink psp available too, and if you're looking for the new PSP Go we have that too.
