I was looking at the Nintendo DS and this one before I pulled the trigger on it. I found that the PSP is so much better than they cannot be even mentioned together. It is a portable miracle I would say.
I use it for gaming - it is a great experience in every aspect, for music - it is great for music also, watching videos - nothing to complain about at all.

The battery life could be better - it is s bit more than 3 hours. The good thing in it that it has a battery indicator in % and it will tell you how much time you have left before you need to recharge.
About the design, it looks great, but it is a fingerprint magnet - I have to clean it all the time.

Overall it is an excellent unit with all good features. I'd highly recommend it.

Pros:
pc connection, wireless, internet

Cons:
battery life is a bit short

My friends have IPods, Nintendo DS, portable DVD players, and other portable gadgets. I think the PSP beats them all. The games are better than some of the PS2 ones. It supports various applications and emulators. There are a lot of new games and classic ones available for it. The stuff can be easily uploaded using the USB connectivity from the computer. The included memory stick is only 32MB so I have upgraded to a larger 512MB one which can hold a lot of games and music, also videos. The PSP has also wireless connectivity, so you can play multiplayer games with other PSP owners near you. The wireless also can be used for surfing the internet, so this one is not only a portable game console, it is a lot more. I'd love to have a harddisk in it, with a few GB of storage space. If you want to have the best portable entertainment system out there, it is definitely the Sony PSP.

Pros:
everything I can think of

Cons:
price a bit high, no HDD
