Sony Dual Shock 3 Controller for PlayStation 3

Our Price: $20

If you're on the hunt for a controller for your Playstation 3, then look no further than the Sony Dual Shock 3 Controller. I’m going to jump briefly the history of PS3 controllers and assume that we all know the history of why the “rumble” effect was absent from the PS3 pads and why Sony made the Sixaxis. Well anyhow it’s been back and better than ever. If you have a game, which doesn’t give rumble to you, then you should check with Sony's free PlayStation Network online service. There you will find downloadable patches to retroactively fix your many older games.

The biggest surprise of all was that the rumble works with PS2 games in the PS3 system. I am currently playing through "God of War", a game that had the rumble capability in PS2. I thought that it was unlikely that I was going to get this feature with this new controller in the PS3 so it’s pretty sweet in all. I have noted that the actual amount of rumble varies from game to game and many games even offer the ability to adjust the rumble feedback. There have been minor adaptations to the pad with the addition of a PS button to allow quick start-up and shutdown of your PS3 and access to the PS3 X-Cross Media Bar. Plus I feel that the R2 and the L2 button have been shaped more towards a trigger which takes a little adjustment. The Dualshock 3 vibrations may be slightly less than the Logitec controller, but it doesn't require batteries. It is slightly heavier than the Sixaxis, but it doesn't take up any extra space at all.

Of all the controllers out there, there's no doubt that the Dual Shock 3 is the best Playstation controller. It’s well built and sturdy. You know the controller will last through many gaming sessions. It has to be the recommended choice for the PS3 user. If you're not using it, you should be- Especially at the price we have here.

Sony Dual Shock 3 Controller for PlayStation 3 Reviews (3)

  1. September 16, 2010 by Bert

Sony’s Dualshock 3 is an awesome wireless controller. It feels really good in hand. Its weight is quite right, a perfect balance between looks and functionality. It is neither heavy nor too light and is comfortable to hold. Its rumble feature is my favourite feature. It responds to the action going on the game. The rumble feature is feedback functionality to the DualShock controller. The rumble is the main and the most important feature of this controller.

Pros: rumber feature, precise, works with PS2 games also.
Cons: analogue sticks delicate, some buttons unresponsive

Sony’s DualShock wireless controller is one of the best controller I’ve ever used. As the name suggests, its rumble feature is very good and gives a loud vibration feedback. The gameplay and gaming experience is vastly improved because of the rumble feature. And what’s more awesome is that the rumble feature works even with PlayStation 2 games which are played on PlayStation 3. Even if the controller you got with PlayStation 3 is in perfect working condition, give this one a try, you will love it.

    Pros: precise, wireless, rumble
Cons: some buttons unresponsive, delicate, difficult in sync

Rumble all the way. Yes rumble is the new feature of Sony’s DualShock 3 wireless controller and its impact on the gaming experience is immense. When you are driving a car in a Need for Speed game, when you are not on track, the controller starts vibrating, when someone hits you from behind the controller shakes violently and thus giving you a more in the game experience which is lots of fun. I was pleasantly surprised when it worked on some of the PlayStation 1 games.

Pros: works with PS1 and PS2 games, rumble feature is good, sensitive
    Cons: buttons delicate, sync problems
