This solid handheld touchscreen device is aimed at 3 to 7 year olds, has a book form factor to it and has a 3.5 color touchscreen with plastic stylus attached via nylon cord. Kids can practice the alphabet and penmanship with Note Pad, flex their creativity with the Art Studio, and practice reading and comprehension with the Digital Reader. Even playing games is educational because the Game Player features a three-level arcade game that promotes counting and learning about sequences and numbers. You can upload music to the Fisher-Price iXL, which can be played in the Paint app or Photo Viewer while your child is coloring. The Photo Viewer also allows your child to paint over uploaded photos, hours of fun can be had painting moustaches on family members. There is an SD expansion slot for additional memory, a light sensor to adjust the LCD backlight, a headphone jack, and a single speaker with volume control - a must for parents. The Fisher-Price iXL has easy to navigate icon based menus and each button press or action is accompanied by a fun sound effect that kids will enjoy. Even a 2 year old will find some fun in the Fisher-Price iXL, but then there’s also enough here to keep 7 year olds interested.
