Lenovo Thinkpad X220

Our Price: $697

Looking for a powerful laptop with an affordable pricetag? The Lenovo ThinkPad has been a popular laptop model among students and business folk for quite a while now, and their new model the Lenovo ThinkPad X220 is sure to follow suit. The X220 has a unique 12.5-inch screen and a wider keyboard than previous models like the T42. The keyboard has closely spaced keys that are wider at the bottom and taper slightly at the top. They type of keys are more popular on desktops and are rarely found in laptops so typing on this keyboard is excellent. The important keys like as Shift, Enter, and even Delete are huge and easy to use.

There are big white and blue labels for many keys, and keys such as Page Up/Down and Print Screen etc. For a first laptop, this would be ideal. There are dedicated buttons for volume control, speaker, and mute. Lenovo also has added a quick-launch button for Lenovo's ThinkVantage software suite. This software suite gives you one-stop access to all of the business-friendly support and system tools in one place, including troubleshooting, downloading software updates, and managing security and power settings.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X220 has a large touchpad and it shares the space with a pointing stick and secondary set of mouse buttons. The 12.5-inch display is a definite improvement from the 11-inch display that previous versions of ThinkPad were equipped with. This doesn’t make too much difference to its portability factor, but productivity is much better with the screen just that much bigger. Tablets like the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer are great for portability, but it's harder to get a lot of work done on a smaller screen. The display of Lenovo ThinkPad has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and is clear and bright even for off-axis viewing. The screen has a matte finish that makes it glare free which is very important for reading comfortably. This machine is powerful enough to handle heavy usage and a lot of multitasking. With 4GB of DDR3 SD RAM and a 2.3 GHz Intel Core processor, you can be sure that you won't experience any lagging with this machine. There is a 4 in 1 card reader than can take your photos right from your camera's SD card where you'll have more than enough room to store them on the X220's 320GB hard drive. Overall, the Thinkpad X220 is a very nice laptop in a great line-up of reliable new notebooks from Lenovo. Buy a Lenovo ThinkPad today for a laptop with incredible performance.
