The device has a glossed coat with soft curves giving the phone a a tough exterior but also making it feel comfortable in the hand. It also has a circular navigation toggle in the middle which allows you multi optional controls by which to operate the mobile phone. The Matrix has a 1.3-megapixel camera gives a selection of resolutions and control settings to give a sharp high quality photo plus the built-in camcorder, which can record in three resolutions (96x64, 128x96, and 176x144) in either MMS mode or for whichever amount of storage is available. The smartphone delivers great call quality, with a good quality speakerphone also.

The Matrix also has a useful 1000-entry phonebook which can store 5 phone numbers, 2 e-mail addresses, a Web URL, a street address, and a memo. On top of that you can save contacts to groups, and pair them with a photo and one of 16 polyphonic ringtones and alert tones. Pantech Matrix C740 (Unlocked) Reviews (3)

  1. November 18, 2010 by Reynold

Be careful if you are planning to buy this phone. I used it for a week and last week it fell from my hand to the carpet and the screen cracked. The carpet is quite thick and the phone did not fall from too much height, the screen should not have cracked from such a fall. This phone is very good for texting but it is delicate for normal day to day usage.

    Pros: texting, keyboard, cheap
    Cons: apps, games, weak screen

Be careful if you are planning to buy this phone, its slider is very weak and it detaches/ breaks off very easily, at least my handset did and I came to know that there are others with this problem too. I got my handset replaced by AT&T but this is a problem which should have never happened. I lost most of my contacts and messages that I had in my phone.

    Pros: good keyboard, messaging, contacts
Cons: weak slider, screen not good. apps

This phone has no multi-tasking, if you are writing a message and you switch off the screen, the next time you start the message is not available. The apps are you were using is shut down. There is no notification system. You cannot delete multiple messages at a time. The vibration is very loud. The screen gets easily scratched. You cannot view what time it is when you are using the phone. It does not save a note if you press back.

Pros: good keyboard, contacts are good, messaging system is good.
Cons: no apps, no games, weak slider.
