Have you ever thought how awesome it would be if your smartphone could play the games your PlayStation Portable can? Then you wouldn’t have to carry multiple devices. Well Sony has made it possible by combining Sony Ericsson Xperia smartphone with PlayStation Portable to make Sony Ericsson Xperia Play so you can have best of both worlds. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play looks like a regular smartphone powered by Android operating system. It has a large 4-inch capacitive touch screen which covers most of the front of the device. The smartphone has a smooth glossy black finish with silver chrome accents along the sides. Sony has designed the device with slight curves so that it is comfortable to hold for long periods of time.
It measures 4.68-inches long by 2.44-inches wide by 0.63-inch and weighs 6.17 ounces which is a little heavy but considering that there is so much awesome stuff packed in this device I didn’t mind the weight. When you slide the phone open, the game pad is revealed and the regular smartphone is converted into a gaming system. The gaming pad has a matte silver finish and the button layout is similar to that of Sony’s DualShock controller. The D-pad is on the left and face buttons (triangle, circle, cross, and square) are on the right. The select and the start buttons are on the lower right side of the pad. There is a menu button on the lower left and shoulder buttons on the right edge. In the middle there are two touch sensitive buttons which replace the analog joystick buttons that you find on the DualShock controller. The touch sensitive buttons are not as good as the analog joystick but it would have added further bulk to the phone. This device is the perfect gaming/phone hybrid. It’s a brilliant gadget that you can bring anywhere in your pocket that will keep you entertained wherever you go. Buy an unlocked Sony Ericsson Xperia Play today and get your game on.
