It’s not often that you find an attractive looking router. They’re usually just simple blocks like the Linksys WRT54GL that you try to hide away to do its job. If you’ve spend money on an sleek computer like the Dell XPS One 24, why not have a stylish router to accompany it? The Asus RT-N56U Dual-Band Gigabit Wireless-N Router is an extremely thin device with a glossy black patterned finish. This is without a doubt one of the most stylish routers that I’ve seen and tested. It is not made to be wall mountable but believe me; you won’t mind having this router on your desk. It comes with a detachable base and can also be placed on its bottom.

Being thin and modern does not mean that it compromises on features though – this mean router is packed with lots of power and an excellent set of user-friendly features. On the back of the router, there are four Gigabit LAN ports for wired devices and one WAN port that you can connect to an Internet source such as a broadband modem. Next to the Gigabit LAN and WAN ports you will also find two USB ports which are designed to host printers or network storage. This is the first router I have seen with an ultrathin size that also hosts two USB ports. Between the USB ports and the LAN ports there is a tiny reset button that restores the router to the default manufacturer settings, which is always a handy feature, especially if you are a meddler like me.

On the top there are a bunch of tiny blue lights, each labeled with a function that shows: the status of USB ports, wired network and the two wireless networks (2.4GHz and 5GHz) and of course; the power. Setting up this device is quite simple – first, plug in the router and turn it on, open your browser (Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer or Google Chrome) to get a quick web-based setup wizard which lets you walk through few simple steps to set up the wireless networks and get connected to the internet. This will only take a few minutes and you’ll be ready to go. If you want a user-friendly router that is packed with power in a very stylish package, then buy the Asus RT-N56U Dual-Band Gigabit Wireless-N Router today at a great price here.

What can you really say about a router that hasn’t been said any more. It works. Always. Never had a problem with it. It was easy to setup. The main reason I bought it is because it’s not a boring box in the corner. It looks great and does everything I need it to.

    Pros: Best looking router around.
    Cons: PRice
