Magellan RoadMate 1470

Our Price: $57

Looking for an affordable GPS? The Magellan RoadMate 1470 is one of my favourite portable navigation devices – it has a nice form factor measuring 3.3 inches deep by 5.2 inches tall by 7 inches wide and it is so compact that that you can carry it in your jeans pocket, jacket pocket or purse without any problem. The majority of the front portion of this device is covered by a glorious touch-screen. It measures 4.7 –inches and the largeness of the screen makes viewing the maps in turn by turn navigation even easier. The screen has a matte finish which does a really good job of diffusing the glare. This, along with the brightness of the display makes the display viewable even in direct sunlight, which is very useful if you are using it to while travelling to your destination in bright summer sunlight. On the top of this, the device has a very easy to use interface, there is not much of a learning curve with this GPS. When you power off the device you get an option with a 5 second countdown to cancel or shut down so it won’t turn off by accident in your pocket. This similar option is shown when you disconnect the device from the charger but the countdown time is increased to 30 seconds. At the bottom of the device there is a micro SD card slot and Mini USB port so that you can connect the device to a computer or for charging. On the back there is a speaker which is very loud and clear for directions. The Magellan RoadMate 1470 comes with a Mini USB 12 volt charger to keep it powered when you use it in a car, a suction cup windshield cradle, an adhesive disk for dashboard mounting, a Mini-USB cable for connecting the 1470 to a PC, and a user manual. Although Garmin might be the king in the GPS market, Magellan RoadMate can give them a run for their money. This GPS is a steal at this price, so grab it while you can.
