Garmin Nuvi 205W

Are you unfortunate enough to have a bad sense of direction and no GPS unit for your car? You should check out Garmin’s Nuvi 205W GPS Navigator. This device is really compact and easy to use. It is stylish widescreen device with 4.3-inch a color touch screen display that covers the entire front panel. It's not quite as wide a display as the Gamin nuvi 1490LMT but the screen is easy to read in all lighting conditions and has a WQVGA resolution of 480 x 272 pixels. This device comes along with a 12 volt power cable and a suction cup and cradle, which is necessary to mount in on the windshield. The cradle has a good amount of articulations from its ball-jointed neck so you can find the perfect angle. If you would prefer to mount it on the dashboard instead, it also comes with an adhesive disk.

There is a quick start manual included in the box, which explains all the functions of the device very nicely even though the design of the GPS unit is intuitive and very user-friendly. At the top edge of the device you will find the power and lock slider. Moving the lock slider towards the lock icon will lock the touch screen so that no one accidentally touches it. On the left side there is an SD card slot and on the back you will find the speakers and a mini USB port for charging and connecting to the computer. When you first start this device you are taken to the menu screen where two large options are displayed. These are “Where to?” and “view Map”. At the bottom of the screen there are small icons for volume, tools, stop and detour route. When you click on the “where to?” you will get the choice either to enter an address, or search for the place in the map.

There is also a "Where Am I?" emergency locator, if case you ever get lost. If this happens, you can just tap the screen to get your exact latitude and longitude coordinates. This will also allow you to see the nearest address and intersection, as well as hospitals or nearest fuel station, which can come in handy even if you aren’t lost. The Nuvi 205W comes preloaded with City Navigator NT map for US, Canada and limited European regions so you can get started on your journey with the Garmin right out of the box. If you need more maps, you can connect the device to a computer to access maps from all over the world. This GPS goes beyond simple navigation though. There are a lot of other great features that can help with your journeys, especially when traveling. There is a world travel clock with time zones, a currency converter, a measurement converter, calculator and more. The GPS also displays speed limit icon that warns if you are exceeding the speed limit.

I’m so lucky someone finally bought me a GPS for my car. I’m always getting lost! I can’t believe they put a “Where Am I?” emergency locator in this thing, it’s the best thing ever. It’s gotten me back on track so many times. I’m not great with gadgets but this thing is easy as hell to use. A+++ and two thumbs up!!! ~~~~~******~~~~~~~

Pros: Eh I no longer get LOST.
Cons: Voice wasn’t that nice. Someone sexier should do those GPS voices for sure.
